Straight talk, besties — a cozy table has a few trade-offs nobody mentions on Pinterest.
- ⚠️ Cream stoneware shows everything. Red wine, cranberry sauce, coffee — that warm matte glaze is gorgeous and it is not stain-proof. Rinse before things sit overnight and you will be fine.
- ⚠️ Wood-slice chargers are hand-wash only. Wood and dishwashers do not get along. They wipe clean in about a second, but do not put them in with the plates.
- ⚠️ Measure before you order the runner. This is the number one reason table runners come back. You want 6 to 12 inches of bare table showing at each end.
- ⚠️ Garland and open flame need a little sense. Keep tapers set in holders and give them a couple of inches of clearance from the greenery. Never leave a lit table unattended, and blow them out before the pie comes out.
- ⚠️ A full table is not a one-order project. Plates, runner, garland, chargers, napkins, candles — that adds up if you buy it all in one December. Nobody does. Pick two pieces this year.
None of it is a dealbreaker — it is just the stuff I wish somebody had told me the first year. 🍂
